Variable

BE /ˈveərɪəbl/, AE /ˈvɛriəbəl/

Definition

A variable is a symbol which can stand for any entity. It must stand for the same entity each time it occurs in a formula.

Examples

Maria peeled and quartered three apples.
[Three x: APPLE (x)] PEEL (m, x) & QUARTER (m, x)

The book was signed by every guest.
x (GUEST (x) → SIGN (x, b))
