Paraphrase

Definition

Two or more sentences are called a paraphrase (/ˈpærəfreɪz/)to each other when they have the same basic meaning.

Examples

Paraphrase via passive voice: Mr. March bought the house. The house was bought by Mr. March.

Paraphrase via substitution of synonyms: She takes the elevator to get to her apartment. She takes the lift to get to her flat.
